The little pocket is a watch pocket. Ages ago folks (especially) men carried pocket watches w/the chains and the little pocket held the face part of the watch for easy access instead of letting it fall to the bottom of the big pocket with other items like bills or coins. It protected the watch too.

On the other hand....To prevent the stuck change problem...take pants to a tailor and have them stitch the little pocket shut . They can do that so that it doesn't appear stitched over by working from the under side of the pants/jeans. Problem solved.

That little pocket is for change :):):) No, I've just been told that the pockets were designed way back for your pocket watch.

The little pocket in jeans? That's what it's for, change. I never use it though.

It is there to hold your change, so it doesn't jingle and roll around in your other pocket, plus it is less likely to fall out when you are sitting down.
