First off, I have lime wire too and I am not all that crazy about it. But it does what I need it to do so I use it anyway. Now, this is not to discourage you but this is just to give you my opioion on Limewire. However, there are quite a few features (including the free version) that can help solve the problem you are experiencing. One of the ways to avoid that is if it says "need more sources" or "awaiting sources" or something to that effect under the status bar, you can simply hit resume or find more sources. If it still doesn't work then you can try going with a different host for the download you are looking for. Here are a few brief solutions:

Need More Sources => Find More Sources
Awaiting Sources => Resume Download
If the Download Doesn't Work Whatsoever => Try Different Host

Limewire sucks I removed it after having so many corrupted files setting off the Norton's Anti Virus I have on my computer. Try Kazaa or Bearshare they don't have a lot of problems on their end.
