My daughter just came into the room eating chips I have no clue where they came from. They could be from under the couch for all I know. Should I worry or just let her finish the chip and then follow her to the spot where she recovered these questionable doritos? Or should I not be so paranoid?

I assume you are talking about a child too young to speak. You should still ask her to show you where she got them from. She ought to at least be able to point. I wouldn't let her have them without knowing. Not that the chips are so bad but she should be taught that you need to know what she eats. You don't want her taking candy or brownies from strangers or eating other mystery goodies.

Don't panic. Just say "no no honey" and gently take them from her hand. You can ask where she got them once, but maybe just stealthily follow her to make sure she's not going back for more.

Perhaps the time has come to vacuum under the couch. I know, I know, but tomorrow's Saturday...it won't take long.

Dear Polly,
Don't worry unless they are cow chips. Then you need to worry about where exactly she's hiding the cow.

Did you ask her where she got them? That would be a good start. If she's too young to tell you, then I would follow her to the source when she returns for more.

Probably you should just watch her more often, you know....give her some old fashion attention.

maybe you should go taste one - then say they are bad (even if they are not) and finish them yourself or throw them out.
