My school has an "advisory" class we have to take. It's supposed to help us get used to the new school. And we have a consern box where we anomiously drop in conserns and the teacher reads them and as a class we say what we think they should do. Well a few days ago, (I'm a fan of the Backstreet Boys) I was trying to sit with my friend at lunch, and the people around her kept taking away my chair and telling me to go away because I'm a fan. Well I wrote it down and droped it in. When the teacher read it, sodenly a bunch of people started to laugh at me and humiliate me because they knew it was me. I almost started crying because of those jerks. The teacher tried to get them to stop, but she couldn't. They all humiliated me the rest of the day. Why do they do this?

Hun,do not allow someone to humilate you or upset you over something that minor.Let me tell you something,one makes fun of another because they do not understand the other person.They are not happy with themselves,so they feel they have to make you unhappy with them.Ignore them,if they do not like you for that pathetic closed-minded reason,its their problem.Not yours.If someone lets something such as a band someone likes stand in the way of a friendship,they dont deserve your friendship anyway.Ignore what they say,because they are not worth your time or energy.Good luck,and hold your head high.School can be rough,but it is a learning experience.There will always be people their who judge you,even if they have no right or reason.This sort of thing is a learning experience,and even if it seems hard now,youll look back and realise it helped you toughen up.Dont be afraid to be different and stand out.That is what makes those remember you,not just being "one of the crowd" but because you stood for you and didnt let other influence you away from what you enjoy.

Wow how mature are they. Not very. In junior high or high school kids can be cruel and not like people because of even the slightest differences from them. Just because you are a fan of Backstreet Boys doesn't give them a right to tease you. Tell them yes you are a fan but you don't hassle them about what they listen to. Eventually they will drop it. Don't stoop to there level and pick on them back. Dont resort to violence either. Remember this will pass. I know this is hard but act like it doesn't bother you and keep being your beautiful self. Yes, the hell of adolescence. I remember it well. It's hard to live down liking something the self-proclaimed "cool" kids think is dumb.
First, you're doing the right thing by not giving in to peer pressure by abandoning the things that you like.
Second, and I know this is hard, ignore the dorks. If they harass you, tell the school authorities. Stealing your chair and laughing at you to make you cry is harassment. If you're called a nark for telling on them, so be it. Bullies need to be spotlighted.
Third, yes, this is hard too, this will all mean nothing over time. What bands you like will not matter in time. What does matter is the person you are and the person you will be. That's what you will be remembered for.

The thing that they do not realize is that none of this will matter some day. None of any of the things you guys like in school will be concidered cool wether it be popular or not. For example....I am almost 28 and when I was in school
the guys wore big MC hammer style pants, oh so cool ....not
hyper color t shirts
tiffany, debbie gibson, madonna, and vanilla ice where that coolest thing around
shirt clips
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK......need I say more
I promise hun this will pass and they will some day feel like the fools they are being. As for you, enjoy what you like and ignore them unless they become destracting or harassing, then report it to the proper adults. Good luck.

They do this because they want to get a rise out of you. If you show them that they are bothering you they will continue to do it. some people are just plain mean to others, especially if the person they are picking on does not stand up for themselves. They will eventually forget about it and move on to the next target....but start thinking of some good come backs that you can say when they do pick on you....it is an easy way to "fight back" without physically hurting someone...but shutting them up at the same time.

Well, I hate to say it cause I don't want to hurt your feelings but The Back Street Boys are not only lame but they're really out dated as far as being a cool group to like. I'm actually really surprised to hear that anyone still listens to them, But hey good for you for standing up for what you enjoy. Just a thought though try listening to some other groups that are more recent that have some stuff out now. Just a suggestion.

You shouldn't worry about it. They are just being bullies. Don't care about what others think and feel about the way you are, and what you are interested in, like the Backstreet Boys. Perhaps you should ask them, straight up, ask them why they are being the way they are. Why are they laughing at you? Don't be afraid to ask. Are you in middle school? Anyhow, good luck!

are you sure they weren't just messing around? and if they really were being mean then they are really stupid. i like the backstreet boys (i don't listen to them much anymore) so your not the only one who likes them.
they did it because they like it when other people suffer. they have had to suffer from mean kids so they want to be the mean kids for a change and make peope suffer in return. that was kindda confusing but it's true. sorry for lack of better words. lol.

hey dont worry, and dont let them get to you. the reason people bully is cuz they have low self asteem and need to feel better. so, they make other ppl feel smallr to feel better. but im guessing u already know that. im in high school too, and i know that when u feel small its hard to do things, but dont worry about it so much! just relax and try to enjoy being around ur friends and learning new things ( that probly sounds really dorky, but its not when u do it.) try rading a book or listening to music. and u know wut, next week, something is gunna happen and ppl r gunna talk about that instead! chin up! and good luck with ur 'situation' lol : )

Ignor it. If they are going to act like an @ss then you font need to be friends with them. And the box thing is kinda stupid no offence. If you still have a problem try the guidence counceller.
