Been there, done that! I got stuck in Las Vegas, Nevada on an elevator once. Try to stay calm and pick up the elevator phonE AND CALL FOR HELP.If there is an alarm button to push inside the elevator push it so people will know someone is stuck inside. Just sit comfortably and stay calm. You don'tt know how long you will be there. Hopefully they will get it going again very soon.

Use the phone inside the elevator to get the elevator company out to fix the elevator.

OK, remember in that one movie and the elevator gets stuck and they have to get out fast and then they climb up on the roof of the elevator and then it has these cables and they get grease all over their hands sliding down and then the guy has a pocket knife and he pries open the basement door to the elevator. That's all you have to do. Piece of cake.

The first thing is to stay calm and not panic. If you have a cell phone, you can call for help. If you don't have a phone, it won't take long for people to figure out that the elevator is stuck and to summon help for you.

Waive your arms and scream 'We're all going to dieee!'
Um wait. No.
1) Pick up the elevator phone and call the service number, or press the service button (they all have 'em)
2) Wait for help.

Push the red button that your three year old always pushes anyways. Then sit tight. Unless you brought a book; in that case you should read. Perhaps now would be a good time to clean out your purse, or call and make that appointment you've been meaning to make.

I think of that every time I get on one. I think first, do not panic. Then pull on the emergency button and wait for help. If there's a phone in the compartment, that would be even better.
