It gives the property a better resale value if 7-11 ever goes out of business. The next store owner may want to close up at some point.

Locks are there because 7/11 they don't own the property,the locks are provided by the landlord

Have you never heard of natural disasters?
Flood, Hurricane, Tornado, Power outage...
In the event of an evacuation, does 7-11 stay open?
Lets NOT have locks...we live in a perfect world.

because when they first opened they were not sure if they would be open 24 hours. it is not true that they have locks in case of a robbery. that is false. if there is a robbery they do not lock the doors. they want the person out of there as fast as possible. they do not want anyone to be hurt.
some stores do close for the holidays.

Well despite all the other answers the obvious answer seems to be that eventually someone will be working alone and need to pee. This way they can tack up a back in five minutes sign and run to the potty without havving to worry about theft.
