yes ice craving is common during pregnancy but it also means you could be anemic ( low iron) and the more ice you eat the more anemic you can become.

Yes!! I craved it so much, I asked for an ice shaver/snow cone maker for Christmas!! (My brother and his wife searched every where to find one in the middle of winter) Every night, I'd make a huge cup of shaved ice and eat it w/ a spoon. I've been told that ice cravings are a sign of iron deficiency, but my doctor never said anything about my iron being low... so not sure if there's any truth to that or not.

I heard somewhere that eating ice is a sign of iron deficiency. Could be why pregnant women crave it.

I craved it with my last one and I just had him in Aug. I wanted everything in ice...It is usually a sign later in pregnancy. If u are craving ice it could mean u are low on iron or certain minerials

I crunched HUGE cups of ice for the last 2 months of my pregnancy. The craving came upon me out of nowhere - it was not a normal circumstance for me. I was buying it in the store because my icemaker couldn't keep up with me!

Ya, some do. I wouldn't use cravings as a basis for deciding if you are pregnant. Take a test.

No, the urge to eat strange and even non-food items is a condition of pregnancy called 'pica'. Pica indicates an iron deficiency in both mother and child and must be treated immediately with supplements.
So take your prenatal vitamins, girls!!
