Try eBay. After you register and log in, there is a place to ask questions and get help with appraisals. Good luck.

There actually is no such thing as a penny in U.S currency. We have a one cent coin. The term penny is an English coin. The first settlers in the American colonies called our CENT a penny because most of them were from England, and it resembled the English penny(copper).Look on the coin. does it say penny anywhere? But to answer your question all cents were made of copper thru-1982 (except steel ww2 cents)then they switched to zinc-with a thin copper coating because the coin was worth less than the value of the copper. If you have a silver cent, it has been painted or something. It is possible that it could be an error coin. That is a coin that was struck on the wrong planchet-
(blank) if this is the case it could be quite valuable to an error coin collector. You can get the names of some error coin specialist from coin world magazine, and send it to be appraised. but don't get your hopes up.

It has probably been plated, or perhaps coated with mercury.
Take it to a coin dealer and have him (or her) weigh it.

It is remotely possible that you have a one cent coin which was accidentally made on a dime planchet. if that is the case, it may be worth a few dollars, but not a fortune.

no such thing, sorry. Silver pennies only came out during WWII. And they were steel. Yours might be a fake.
