Seven Deep South cotton states seceded by February 1861, starting with South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. These seven states formed the Confederate States of America (February 4 1861), with Jefferson Davis as president, and a governmental structure closely modeled on the U.S. Constitution. In April and May 1861 four more slave states seceded and joined the Confederacy: Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

The Southerners "state of confusion". Bwahahahaha. BTW I think I learned earlier today that Vermont is currently considering succeeding from the Union. It is Constitutionally lawful to succeed if Congress behaves with a record of unconstitutional legislative function. Passing of unconstitutional acts. If this is true, I predict that W.Virginia is not far behind. W.V. has long been upset over national ID card and is currently considering repeal of driver license laws also. License are a violation of Constitutional law about traveling freely across this land in the common conveyance of the day. Also license plates and registration is unlawful too.

Maryland was going to secede but Linclon had the Maryland legislature detained.

"Members of the State legislature suspected of being in favor of secession, or antiwar were arrested and imprisoned at Fort Lafayette. The federal government placed posters at the polling booths instruction everyone to point out any “peace activist” to soldiers so that they could be arrested and prohibited from voting. The ballots were made of different colors so that soldiers could throw out the Peace Party votes." The Real Lincoln
