Probably "Tears In Heaven" by Eric Clapton, that song never gets unsad.

I was a child when this came out. I remember Walter Brennan( of all people) ,singing it. I cried my eyes out!!
Artist: Elvis Presley
Song: Old Shep
When I was a lad
And old Shep was a pup
Over hills and meadows we'd stray
Just a boy and his dog
We were both full of fun
We grew up together that way
I remember the time at the old swimmin' hold
When I would have drowned beyond doubt
But old Shep was right there
To the rescue he came
He jumped in and then pulled me out
As the years fast did roll
Old Shep he grew old
His eyes were fast growing dim
And one day the doctor looked at me and said
I can do no more for him Jim
With hands that were trembling
I picked up my gun
And aimed it at Shep's faithful head
I just couldn't do it
I wanted to run
I wish they would shoot me instead
He came to my side
And looked up at me
And laid his old head on my knee
I had struck the best friend that a man ever had
I cried so I scarcely could see
Old Shep he has gone
Where the good doggies go
And no more with old Shep will I roam
But if dogs have a heaven
There's one thing I know
Old Shep has a wonderful home

"You are my Sunshine" traditional old folk tune, chorus was taught to me as a child in pre school. The first time I heard the whole thing when I was older I was suprised to hear it was just about some guy losing the love of his life.

Believe by Yellow card. It's about a guy who is in a fire and then another guy goes in to save him and saves his life but then the guy who saved him ends up dying. He never got to say "thanks for saving me". He says
"Think about the chance I never had to say
thank you for giving up your life that day
climbing higher through the fire time was running out
never knowing you weren't going to be coming down alive
But you still came back for me
you were strong and you believed
Everything is gonna be all right
Be strong Believe
I wanna hold my wife when I get home
wanna tell the kids they'll never know
how much I love to see them smile
wanna make a change or two right now
wanna live My life like you some how
wanna make your sacrifice worth while"
It may not sound sad to some people but to me it is. Sorry my answer is so long but it really needed to be. Thanks for asking that question.
