Peyton is a great quarterback, possibly the best currently playing, but he is not the best of all-time yet. You are competing against legends like Elway, Montana, Young, Marino, Farve, Tarkenton, Unitas, and Staubach. While Manning's name may someday be mentioned with these, I don't think it can be yet. A Super Bowl ring (or appearance) or two would definitely propel him to greatness though.

Not right now. If Peyton ends up with a championship or two, then his name would definitely be put into the argument. However, unfair as it may seem, you can't be the greatest until you win The Big One. Conversely, simply winning Super Bowls doesn't make you great. For example, while everyone can agree that Tom Brady is an excellent clutch performer, nobody - excluding the Patriot faithful - considers him to be even one of a handful of the greatest quarterbacks ever.

Peyton still has a long way to go to consider being the best.

Right now, that title belongs to Brett Favre, with Marino a VERY close second.

Elway, Montano, Young and Aikman are all considered better at this point in Manning's career.

He will undoubtedly be a top 5 all-time qb by the time he retires, however.

Yes I believe he is the best in the league right now, also the best fantasy player to have at the time too, If Peyton contiunes as he is throughout his career and gets a Superbowl win or 2 under his belt, their is no doubt he will be the best, another thing he can do is make names for his recievers he has the ability to turn a "nobody" into "somebody"

peyton may be one of the greatest 'passers' of all time, but to be even considered as one of the greatest quarterbacks...he will have to win no less than one superbowl. jim kelly kept getting all the way there, and had an awesome completion ratio...but hardly ever mentioned. nobody will waste much time with marino, and he has led in a million of the most impressive stats.

montana, staubach, bradshaw, aikman, brady, etc all made it numerous times and found a way to win. not choking is maybe the most tremendous attribute of these guys (and others).

peyton is truly in charge of his team, and throws the prettiest ball in the league...but he will have to find a way to win. no superbowl, no mention of greatness...sorry.

i'm not steve young, however, i did stay at a holiday inn express last night!

Not yet... Give him a few years, and he'll either be like John Elway, (Great QB on a team that finally got it together), or Dan Marino/Jim Kelly/his Daddy (Greatest QBs never to win a championship)... Greatest of all time is also way too subjective; too many greats from the old days to compare to... Namath, Jurgenson, Starr, Unitas, etc...

How can you compare manning to the likes of Montana, Nameth, Elway, Staubach, Unitas or Tarkenton

He's the best around now but not worthy of being backup to most of the above

Can't deny the guy has skills...but I'd take Tom Brady any day of the week...look at him right now, no really good WRs and his STILL pulling all the weight...something special over there in New England.
