How could she have told you that she's never said "eh" without saying "eh"? eh? You're not even Canadian and you just said eh twice. And Now I've said it 4 times.

Does everyone from Jersey have an accent? How 'bout Texas? Mississippi? It's kinda like that. Some people train it out of themselves...most don't. She's probably just trying to shake off some of the stereotypes we all encounter WAY too often. Would you believe a young girl from Oregon once asked me if there were kennels at the border for our dogs? And another person in Seattle once asked me if I knew her cousin's friend "Mike"? So...in true Canadian form, I responded like we all do: "Yup, Mike's a great guy...he lives four igloos down from Joe." I actually believed she might be kidding...but she answered "oh, well say hi to him from Sarah!" Now don't get me wrong...we know it's not all of ya...but I guess you can see how that would get tiring after a while, eh?

I had a canadian roomate once... He said it all the time. I used to bust out laughing every time he did - i couldnt help myself.

I haven't known too many canadians, yet of the few I have known, only 2 have said it and the others haven't... so your friend may be telling the truth.

Then again, if she really did say "I have never said the word "eh"" than... she just did say it so you can call her out on it :)

Frankly I'm not sure I remember EVERY work I've ever said, and so I think there's a darned good chance that she said it at some point as a kid, or when quoting someone.
But I'm sure there are probably a few English-speaking Canadians, even ones that are over the age of three and not mute, who rarely if ever said it.

Some of us say it more than others, but if she's a natural-born English-speaking Canadian, it seems quite unlikely that she's NEVER said it. French Canadians don't of course.
