I am supposed to build a system for my aunt next week, but there is one thing which I do not about. The processor. I read the Core 2 Duo series is meant more for the heavy gamers, and given that she isn't exactly a gamer I do not know whether to get a Core 2 Duo 6300 ($190) or the 6600($330). The 6600 has twice as much cache, so if i wanted it for gaming it would be the better choice. However, my aunt wont be doing much FPS gaming lol. At most she will do some Photoshop, so should i go with the 6300? or perhaps bumb it up to the 6400 cuz its still only $230.
Any of you guys have an answer?
(p.s.i have a pretty huge budget so i dont have to get the cheapest stuff)

If you want Intel the 6300 should be more than enough for her needs. An AMD Athlon 62 X2 of any speed would also be quite sufficient and cheaper than an Intel system.
If you want it to be compatible with the upcoming Micro$oft Vista, I would get 2 Gb of memory and at least one large HD.

Get the latest biggest processor Intel offers to the consumer and you won't have to worry about your next upgrade cycle. The core 2 duo gives a longer life to the PC. And since your aunt Will be using it for photos, and images it won't hurt to get a 6600.

Based on the following link I'd recommend the 6600 for something processor heavy (and mucho memory) like photoshop + any considerations about windows vista in the future? - this should help decide: http://reviews.cnet.com/Intel_Core_2_Duo_E6600/4505-3086_7-31973857.html
of course somestill say AMD might be a better way to go.....

Go with the BEST and FASTEST CPU you can afford...Always worth the money...
Besides, how do you know she wouldn't like playing a FPS? Has she tried it yet?
I know lots of older people (like me being 50) that love FPS on and offline...
Not just that, you will have to install a very good vidcard for gaming...the CPU will help, but the videocard & Memory cards do the work when playing games that are graphics intensive...
