The fast passes are something you get once you are inside the park. They enable you to basically not have to stand in line for an hour and a half for a ride. You get a fast pass for a popular ride such as Pirates of the Caribbean, return to the ride at the time stated on the pass, and your wait time will be a half an hour or so instead of 90 or more minutes.
Fast Passes are free. Not all rides have them, but ALL of the very popular rides do.

You Are Probably Used To Universal's Express Or Six Flag's Fast Lane, Whatever It's Called..
The Disney Fast Pass System Is A Free And Basic System For The Most Popular Attractions And Shows..
All You Need Is Your Park Ticket You Used To Get Into One Of The 4 Parks In Walt Disney World (magic kingdom, epcot, mgm studios, animal kingdom) (and if you got a hotel on-property that uses your room key card for charges and admission, that works too) And Go To A Fast Pass Machine, Found Near/In Front Of An Attraction Entrance.. To See If An Attractions And Shows Supports Fast Pass, Check Out The Park Map Or The Disney World Website (1)..
When You Are There, You Simply Put Your Ticket Into The Machine And You Will Get A Fast Pass For That Attraction!
The Fast Pass Shows You The Time You Should Go To The Shortened-Line (ex. 12:30PM - 1:30PM), Generallly An Hour After You Got Your Fast Pass And An Hour Window For You To Get On The Attraction..
and if you're lucky, you'll get a surpise fast pass for another attraction..
The Fast Pass Also Shows You What Time You Can Get Another Fast Pass (ex. 12:50PM), And Remember, Only 1 Fast Pass At A Time Per Ticket..
(also, if you're in a group, remember to get tickets for all your members and have each ticket to get a pass)
When The Time Come To Get On, Go To The Fast Pass Entrance (there's a sign and a cast member near the main entrance) And Show Them Your Fast Pass And You'll Get In The Shorter Line, Which You Will Have To Give Your Fast Pass To A Different Cast Memeber Inside..
Then, Tada: You Are Now In The Front Of The Line!
For More On Fast Pass, See (2), (note: it's on the disneyland site, but it's still the same system)
Remember: Not All Attractions Use Fast Pass..
Good Tip: Look For 'Single Rider' Lines.. These Lines Are Good To Get On A Attraction Quickly Without Waiting For A Pass..
Please Note: You're Family/Group Will Be Seperated, This Line Is To Fill The Seats On The Ride..

Fast Passes don't cost you a cent! All you do is this - go up to the ride you want to get a Pass from, and you run your ticket or hotel room key (if you're staying on property) thru the slot, and it prints out a fastpass for you. It's a piece of paper with the name of the ride on it, and a specific time, e.g., "Rock and Rollercoaster, 2:15 pm." You go do whatever else you like in the park, and, at 2:15, you show back up at the Rock and Rollercoaster, and show the pass to the castmember at the line, and you wuill be ushered straight thru to the Fastpass line, which is usually about a five to ten minute wait...
Bad thing, though... you can only have one fastpass at a time... translation - you can't run around and get a handful of fastpasses, so you can do and see everything quickly... once that one is used, you can get another.

Fast Passes are free. There are machines outside of the rides that have the option and you stick your park ticket in the machine and it spits out the fast pass that tells you when you can come back. You can only have two passes out at a time if I recall correctly though so I would do it for the big rides and then intersperse with some of the smaller rides.

Fast passes are free, and they are offered for only the most popular rides. Usually you can only hold one fastpass for a particular time before getting another one, but there are lots of ways around this. Many message boards are just about Disney theme parks, and have threads and posts that can help you understand how this whole process works. Try disboards.com for one. And have fun!!

Hey...there is no cost for a fast pass but you are only allowed 1 for each time slot of the day. (ex: 1 for Pooh at 2pm-3pm, etc...) However, if you're taking little ones, I highly recommend to get there after noon. Why? everyone is rushing to get into the part to Fantasyland as soon as it opens and by noon, all the little ones are tired and irritable and need to leave. We get there at noon and can do all the Fantasyland stuff before dinner. My brother-in-law works for Disney so we are blessed to go about 4 times a year.

They are free. YOu can take them from a machine that is usually near the ride you want. However, fastpasses can be sold out.
Also. Fastpasses must be used in a certain time period or else expired. U must keep your ticket if you want a fast pass. DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR TICKET!!! U can only have one fast pass per ticket.

You don't have to pay for the fastpasses, you just use your ticket that you got in with, put it in a machine and out comes a fastpass for that certain ride you want to go on.
Note: If you haven't been to Disneyland before, not all rides have fastpasses, they don't last you all day, and you have to wait an hour until you can go on that certain ride :)

they're free but you can't have more than one until you use one. if you have an annual pass i think you can have more than one at one time. but for a one day admission it's different.
example: say, i want to go on space mountain. i would get a fast pass and use it for the time slot that the fast pass says i can go on the ride. after i use that fast pass i can get another one for another ride or space mountain again if i really wanted to.
