It could be a few things. First I would try slowing down the burn speed from inside of whatever program you are using. What I mean is say is....your discs are 36x and your burner is set to burn at max speed, the data stream is not keeping up so the buffer underruns and causes the failed burn. If slowing down the burn speed doesn't help and you are trying to burn a copy of a purchased cd there is probably some sort of copy protection on the original disc that is causing the burn to fail. If you are trying to backup a cd with copy protection you can download AnyDVD from http://www.slysoft.com and install that because that will make the copy protection invisible to your comp. Don't be concerned that the program is called anydvd it will work for cds as well, you can read about it on the website. Last but certainly not least your CD burner could be bad or need the lens cleaned. A word of advice, use a cd-rw and reformat it each time you get a failed burn, that way you don't waste all of your blank cd-r discs trying to figure this out. Best of luck.

Lots of variables here, your cd burner itself doesnt support the file type, your cd blanks arent compatible with your burner, and my favorite is, DONT by those crappy staples bulk packs or any other bargain you might see! If you want reliability with your blanks, buy name brand blanks! The last time I tried them frakkin Bens Bargain Basement blanks, I found 30 percent of them were bad!

You will solve your problem by downloading the latest firware for your burner.

To do this, go to yahoo.com and write: "name of your burner" firware download.

After you downloaded, install it, and the problem will, most likely, disappear.

Good Luck
