Please respond to the following: If I was God and I wrote the commandments, and I found out that my followers were rationalizing my commandments to fit their agendas and beliefs, I think I would be pretty pissed. Thou Shall Not Kill seems pretty clear to me, but it IS the sixth and not the first. Then, maybe it's negotiable; maybe "kill" can be changed to "murder." In that case, then President Bush may not be killing at all becuase he is not legally murdering anyone. Its not murder if a person authorizes another person to fire a laser guided missle on a family of twelve if they are dining with an alleged terrorist, is it? If it prevents an attack then it's self defense, right? What if all these premptive attacks fail to stop future attacks? Will the US bomb the hell out the middle east for the rest of our lives?

I want President Bush to think of a pregnant woman who was tragically hit by one of our bombs. Would he be more sad about the loss of that woman or the loss of her fetus?

In case you've forgotten, the terrorists killed THREE THOUSAND DEFENSELESS CIVILIANS FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN TO CAUSE DEATH AND DESTRUCTION. American forces do everything they can to avoid killing civilians, and if civilians do get killed, it tends to be the ones harboring terrorists. So if you'd rather have thousands of your fellow Americans killed here in America instead, keep up the path you're on. You don't deserve the freedoms you have, but the military will continue to sacrifice their lives to keep you and your ignorance alive. Go get yourself some facts before you spout of.

Look, there is a seperation of church and state. You people don't want the ten commandments in courhouses, you don want God in the pledge of allegiance. Why do you want to drag the presidents faith into the situation? He is not killing anyone. He is just doing his job. Our military is no doing their job in the name of religion. They are doing their job in the name of freedom and democracy and keeping your *** free. If Bush were to say, God commands thee to kill in Iraq, then there would be an issue. On the other hand Radical Islam is doing exactly that. Don't you get it? If you want to get down to brass tacks, killing is the taking of any life. So, if you had a steak today, shrimp yesterday, or plan on having the exterminator rid your house of termites tomorrow, then you are killing. Cows, seafood, and termites are living things, and all play a vital role in the world that God created. No, I am not comparing humans to termite, but, life is life, and who are we to determine what is vital and what is not? So, leave the religion out of the operations of the government. Remember there is a seperation of church and state. And to attack an individual in the manner that you are, surely isn't Christian like. If you feel that he is doing something that goes against your beliefs, remember this from the Lords Prayer , forgive those who tresspass against us. And just leave it at that. Maybe offer up a prayer for him, light a candle for him, but it is not our place to belittle him and convict him in the court of public opinion. Oh, don't step on any ant's either, murderer.

Properly translated from the original Hebrew, the phrase is: You shall not murder. Look at a Jewish version of the Ten Commandments: http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Scripture/Torah/Ten_Cmds/ten_cmds.html

Killing in self defense, a just war, and lawful capital punishment are not considered murder.

However many Christians including Catholics believe most modern governments no longer need to use capital punishment to protect society from criminals.

Many people agree that the war in Iraq is not a just war and therefore breaks this commandment.

With love in Christ.

because the presidents dont really follow the rules of bible, even though "in God we trust" remains on the back of our national currency, more along the lines of following the constitution and if its ok to do something in the constitution then it will be done, but the constitution can be bent and stretched to meet what the president wants to do. But killing people isnt exactly right in any way unless you are defending yourself...and plus bush is messed in the head and about 1 out of 1000 actually like him so there. Just wait for his heir in presidancy to blow over

Do you really want to go down this path? Here we go. If you are going to say that then Your buddy, Clinton, Johnson, Kennedy, shall I continue, also murdered. Tell me what threat the Balkans, Haiti, the aspirin factory etc. was to the US? So if you say this about Bush, you have to say it about almost every US president as well. Except for Carter of course. He did absolutely nothing while in office.

What is the difference whether we kill the Iraqies,or their holy men send out hit squads to kill their neighbors just have just slightly differant beliefs. The good part of is they delight in showing all the blood and gore. Maybe were just a little more humane about it.

Killing someone for any reason is against gods laws.
Look at Jesus,He allowed himself to be killed, even chastising his disciple who attacked the officer's slave.

Moses did kill someone,
when he was 40,
he then lived a banished life for 40 years,
and returned to egypt ( at 80) after being talked to by god.
it was not durring the time he was surving god.
People will rationalize it all they want, but killing is condemned,
they will have to answer for it.
Many other things are condemned, and yet largly praticed.
fornication for example? its not even a big deal anymore...
lying? no big deal.
You have the choice right now to follow Gods laws or not,
It may seem like a long time to us ( who live 80 years)
but its a short time to god, then you will answer on how you lived.

God told GWB it was ok, which is real funny coz he said the same to Ousama...

All three crazy religions accept the old testement which as you pointed out has "thou shall not kill" as rule 6.

I think it is only a sin if you kill and American/Muslim (delete as applicable depending which nutter you are following)

You might want to read the bible. God said, "thou shalt not kill" (which is a bad interpretation of word murder according to scholars) and then ordered the Jews to War.
