I've lived several places, but I gotta give kudos to Pittsburgh, PA for the things you value. Never a better community spirit, Easter Egg Hunt, Fourth of July fireworks (the bridges, buildings, and river explode in a paroxysm of patriotism, with the Pittsburgh Symphony playing all the standards in time with the explosions).
The airport is close by and brand new. The hospitals are outstanding, especially U of Pitt and Allegheny General. Crime is extremely low, and home prices are even below $200K for 3BR, 2.5BA ranch with 1/4 acre in the North or South Hills.
As far as meeting single women or raising kids, Pittsburgh is fantastic. The home of Mister Rogers (where he was copying what he saw of its neighborhood atmosphere on his show) . People are very friendly and helpful. Even the bar scene has a more homey, Cheers-like atmosphere instead of being the typical meat market.
It's a lovely city, too, not very big (250,000 people) and dramatic scenery. It's a spectator sports lover's paradise with pro, college, and even high school teams, but also has gorgeous white water (Ohiopyle), great skiing (Seven Springs), and breathtaking Pennsylvania woods and other nature (caves, mountains) close by. There are museums, music, theatre and even community orchestras, troupes, and other rich cultural resources everywhere.
You can't help but fall in love with Pittsburgh!
