Culturally (USA) Halloween seems to be a very social holiday.
Pumpkin carving parties bring ppl together. Haunted Houses allow groups of friends to get together and have the poop scared out of them. Usually, I have a "Horror Film marathon" on Halloween night (unless on a weekend) which keeps me at home so I can see all the little kids cute costumes. Of course, there is that "Costume Party" that I always go to.
OK, the Vatican asks that we don't worship Halloween. None the less, Halloween is huge in Ireland, and many of the USA Catholic Churches are Irish. I think that the Irish are more seriously freaked out about Halloween than the USA culture who plays with the opportunities of fall & Halloween. Religiously, "All Souls Day" and "All Saints Day" should be more honored than Halloween.

People take Halloween way too seriously!! It's just a day to dress up and go get candy. Some people make it sinister, but it's really not. You can be a Christian and still have fun on Halloween. I love going to haunted houses and dressing up, etc and it hasn't caused me to become a devil worshipper. I'm still a Christian.

Halloween, or Samhain (pronounced Sowen, or soven), is the Wicca new year, its signafies the deaths of our loved ones in the past year, and also of the good things that will come in the new up-coming year. Their is nothing wrong or bad about it. Some Christians disliske it though because they mistake the meaning and think it a night of witchery.

Halloween is the witches New Year, and I love it! Some Christians might have a problem with it but then again they have problems with allot of things that don't fit into their way of thinking. But that's okay because it's all about what you believe.BLESSED BE

No. Halloween is the day before All Saints Day, so it is part of the Catholic religious tradition.
Where did you get the idea it was anything other than establishment?
