U can't help...they need to learn on their own. Most of the time hard headed people do need to get taken advantage of a lot before they learn. It's sad and hard to watch having been on both ends I can speak from experiance.

It depends on what she's giving in to. All you really can do is advise her on how not to get taken advantage of. It sounds like she needs assertive training.

be a friend, she has low self esteem and it appears she has to learn to respect herself first and then others will to, be there for her and help her, let her know, its Great to be your own person, and be happy with yourself, don't look to please everyone all the time, for you will loose who you are
