By now, it is accepted wisdom that Wal-Mart makes the companies it does business with more efficient and focused, leaner and faster. Wal-Mart itself is known for continuous improvement in its ability to handle, move, and track merchandise. It expects the same of its suppliers. But the ability to operate at peak efficiency only gets you in the door at Wal-Mart. Then the real demands start. The public image Wal-Mart projects may be as cheery as its yellow smiley-face mascot, but there is nothing genial about the process by which Wal-Mart gets its suppliers to provide tires and contact lenses, guns and underarm deodorant at every day low prices. Wal-Mart is legendary for forcing its suppliers to redesign everything from their packaging to their computer systems. It is also legendary for quite straightforwardly telling them what it will pay for their goods.

That means, in order to reach that price, something has to give...The "give" is usually quality. Can't reach the price point demanded from Walmart by making it in the U.S.? Then go to China, Still cant reach the price point? Lower the quality..It's an all too common theme.

Another secret, known only to those that have sold Walmart is that they have the vendor fill out and disclose in their application to sell walmart, just who and where does that supplier get its goods from!! That way, when the item is up for a re-order, they can demand an even lower price than before, when the walmart supplier can go no lower, the supplier is kicked out, and Wlamart goes "direct" to the factory..You can say "well yeah, that's cutting out the middleman"..Except that the middleman is what we the suppliers are forced to become by their insistance!

Bottom line: there are plenty of companies offering fair prices for quality goods..Walmart is NOT one of them.

Because people BUY the crap. Like it or not, there is a demand for stuff. Our economy is not dedicated to creating quality products; rather, it is dedicated to making money at any cost, even if it means selling shoddy crap. Sorry to break it to you this way.

Well I'm so sorry if people don't have a substantial amount of money to buy expensive things. If you don't like it don't shop there. They sell alot of good things and studies show that alot of things that are cheap compared to things that are expensive function the same. Bigot.
