Conservatives love to preach that they are the only ones with family values. But are they?
They don't support labor unions, which helped the population into the middle class. They won't raise the minimium wage even though some families depend on it. They won't support universal healthcare even though millions of Americans and their families depend on it. They want to force women to keep unwanted pregnancies. They won't do anything about the environment, because it might hurt some CEOs profits.
But most liberals support these things.
So, who really has the family values?

Jim C,
Thanks for the attack. No, I did not get my "platform" if I may say it is that from any of those politicians or liberals you listed. I am just a concerned liberal individual who speaks his mind.

Questions such as these can only further divide a country that needs to learn to come together.
Of course both sides will claim they have a special control of "family values". What good does that possibly do??

So democratic mothers are a friend to the family when they kill their unborn babies? Hmmmmmmmm.........
I am a conservative and I support unions, not all republicans feel the same on that issue. But the people against it have a valid point. Look at how ineffective and bloated GM has gotten? If they hadnt let the union strongarm them into paying high school dropouts $30/hr our cars might be more affordable, more jobs available, increased productivity, less overhead, and an overall healthy company. Unions do provide workers with valuable rights and job security but are a drain financially and some are corrupt.
Universal healthcare would bring heavy taxes and more govt control.
This is America, if people dont want to make minimum wage they dont have to.
Again, murdering unborn babies is neither moral or pro-family. If they dont want to get pregnant then they should be more responsible.
Actually conservatives are concerned about the environment and will help it in many cases but are not willing to crush the economy. What good is having a perfect environment if it means going back to donkey and cart technology which no liberal would be in favor of?
Conservatives unfortunately have a more unified monopoly on morality and values. Liberals are only willing to be and do what seems popular and could care less if morality went down the drain. (which is what is happening to this country piece by piece)

Let's think about what you just posted. All of your points rely on the gov't giving the individual support. What's the point? Are you and others that useless that you can't educate and support yourselves? That's the difference between republicans & liberals!! Republicans ask you to be a self supporting productive member of society - is that wrong? Liberals support people who have no drive, no desire to accept their own actions and steal from intelligent americans who have figured out that it is best to rely on yourself and not wait for the gov't to provide for them and their family. Labor unions are not needed now. Raising minimum wage hurts skilled tradesmen and small buisennes owners. Socialistic healthcare is a debacle - look to Canada and Russia as examples. Women and preganacies - if you are old enough to decide you want to have sex - then you should be educated and smart enough to practice safe sex (which is considered and inconveinence to libs). The current administration has created and enforced more enviro regs than any other admin. Why punish CEO's because they learned how to make money and climbed the corporate ladder? Stop whining, learn how to support yourself and quit waiting for the gov't to save you.
Ever heard of Darwin and natural selection? It applies to humans as well!

Wow Marty K...very liberating viewpoints!
Rescind the minimum wage...trust corporations! Ever been to China? I have. You should visit sometime! Maybe you could work in a sweatshop for a day, see how you like it.
And why do people link liberals with welfare? Right now, Republicans own the white house, the congress, and most of the judicial branch.
Why don't you guys repeal welfare if you don't like it? Jeesh, stop with the whining already.
Admit it, you care about poor people too!

I think some of each have good values, but there is not enough in total.
Liberalism, the philosophy of doing what you want as long as it is fun, has really reduced the value of personal responsibility in America and with it family values.

All of your liberal causes that you listed are horrible, as follows:
Minumum wage: Discourages self-improvement and promotes enslavement to companies and bosses.
Universal health care: Will not work and will lower the quality of care to the point where the cure is worse than the sickness.
"Unwanted pregnancies" are not an excuse for murder, anymore than unwanted children are an excuse to drown them in a bathtub. If they are unwanted, then don't do the thing that makes, them or else be accountable for them. If people don't want to be pregnant, then they should not CHOOSE to be pregnant, and they should act like responsible human beings instead of First Class Pigs. Their easy-way-out license to kill needs to be revoked.
The enviroment: The problem is liberalism, not myths such as global warming, and Al Gore needs to be sent into a mental hospital for extreme therapy.,

I would have to say that conservatives have the family values in a world where racism, prejudice, ignorance, pedophelia, and a lack of social moral justice are considered quality traits. Sorry, I'd give more but I gotta cut n' run.

Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley resigned from Congress on Friday in the wake of questions about e-mails he wrote a former male page, according to a congressional official. Foley apparently sent the e-mails in August 2005, when the male page was 16 years old. GOP sources say Foley is concerned there may be other potential politically damaging e-mails or information out there.

no one has a lock on good character. both mindsets are perfectly capable of possessing family values since there are family oriented, loving, socially aware, and involved members in either group.
