Well first you have to know what a sonnet is, right?
So a sonnet is:

A 14-line verse form usually having one of several conventional rhyme schemes.

It's a poem using the above form, all right?

I've never read a Harry Potter book in my life, but I am sure you can take some parts of it and write a poem of sorts, okay?

Just think about what you found to be the funniest, or most mysterious about the book and write a poen about it.

I'll come back with a sample.
In the meantime, try!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You might want to go to
Google:

Type in: Harry Potter - poems"

Next, hit the "Search" key

You will bring up a list of sites

Click the first site ("Harry Potter Poems")

There are some samples of poems there. You can use the form of the poems to form the 14 verses you need.
But of course, you will have to think about the book you read and condense it so that the sonnet (poem) does not exceed
14 verses.

DO NOT COPY, USE YOUR OWN BRAIN

So you will need to write a poem that is 14 lines long and in iambic pentameter. That means that it is 10 syllables long and it goes unstressed, stressed, unstressed, stressed. To help you with whether the syllables are stressed or not try reading it out loud to yourself while you write it or even double chcking in a dictionary. It should have three stanzas of four lines each, with an ABAB rhyme scheme (the first line rhymes with the third, the second rhymes with the fourth) and then a fourth stanza at the end which is a rhyming couplet.

To Hogwarts school he went that day, alone
The magic learned would change his life for good
With friends and foes he would pursue the stone
And learn the rules of magic as he should

That is to help you get started...but you really need to do the work on your own. (My iambic pentameter isn't perfect in this example, but I hope you get the idea...) It won't be easy, but you can do it!
