Well, there is a huge difference between depression and just a sad feeling. If someone says they were depressed for a day, it can hardly be classified as depression. Sometimes depression can last for years and years especially without the proper treatment. This could mean medication, counseling, or both. I suffer with depression and have since I was a small child. Now I am in my early 20s. I take medication to control it, which helps an awful lot. Most likely, I have the gene for it. Depression is not actually hereditary, but the gene for depression is hereditary. If you inherited the gene for it, all it takes is for something to trigger it. I hope this helps.

The longest time...? Five months. Just because I couldn't accept the truth that was right before my eye and played with ignorance but it eats you alive. But we all make mistakes no matter what your knowledge level is... time calls for it.... we all do. Just depends if you learn from it and I learned all right!

Stay safe. - Maryam

i have to much to be thankful for and i'm a very strong person so i would say never. even when i was in a hospital bed almost dying because of my car accident and not being able to do to the things i once did and not being able to leave for 1mo and 1/2 and not being able to walk for 2 months i still stayed strong because nothing was gonna stop me from being me and nothing was gonna stop me from accomplishing my goals in life that i had set for myself. i had a set back yes, but that didn't stop me and hasnt till this day and my accident was just recent to it was in February 5th super bowl sunday, three days before my birthday. but you know what "can't nobody hold me down, oh no, i got to keep moving!!!!!!"
