War on Terror.
Add to the defense of this country by protecting the borders, strengthening the Coastguard, Customs and the Port authority, More FBI and more scrutiny of foreigners in this country, not the Mexicans picking the harvest, they are to busy working to get in trouble.
It is the criminal element , gangs and drugs.
Drug money could be supporting the terrorist.
Watch for the home grown hate mongers, uni bomber, and the Oklahoma bomber. Look at web pages and organizations for threats.

I don't think that global awareness is really our forte, which is slightly understandable, because we're so isolated from Europe -- our closest "peer group" -- and unlike Canada, we're not a sister country anymore; nor are we bilingual. Come to think of it, if we could convince some of the Mexican immigrants to speak a more European dialect of Spanish, they would help tremendously in creating an atmosphere of continental proximity, and maybe then it would matter to us when people say "We hate you" in another language.
Nobody that lived in this country wanted anything bad to happen to it unless they were stupid, because it belongs to all of us, and we don't have to listen to it. I have tons of respect for you for thinking. So far everyone here has been on the level, but if the rest of the answers after us disgust you at least you know that.

Their is no war on terror.Bush is just fantasizing about being a hero, taking down a "true tyrant" (Saddam) where theirs a real nut job out their. (Kim John IL) I always knew that their were people that hated America, before i didn't understand why they would hate us, but now i truly understand. In a way I'm starting to hate America. P.S.-The rate of terrorism has increased very much since the war on terrorism, great job Bush!

I know the answers given for why people around the world hate us and I guess it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I don't hate them. In fact, as Christ taught us, I love them. Yes, even my enemies. But it has opened my eyes to how Americans are viewed around the world.

Anyone who doubts that the war on terror is real should come to live in Dearborn or Hamtramck, Michigan. It will change your views. Many Muslims here really hate the American government, democracy and non-Muslims. They want to change the system of government.

All I know is that I never want to experience 9/11 again. I refuse to let terrorist organizations terrorize our country and expect to be treated with humility when in doubt they were responsible for many attacks on our soil and foreign. Prior to 9/11 we valued individualism and we were blind to those that hated us in our country. Now people are more aware of their surroundings and watch for so-called "evil-doers".
Now we are sacrificing our constitutional rights and I believe the government has been wire tapping many individuals before it actually became an issue. So what, get these bastards and punish these bastards to the fullest extent of the law.
Despite the mixed emotions, feelings, and pointing of fingers...if you hate Bush, hate him, whatever. But it doesn't mean you can't love your country. I love my country and I am thankful for the men and women who give their all to protect it.

I don't fully get your question. What do you mean about the war on terror? Hating Americans is nothing new. The question is, "Are some foreigners just jealous of our lush lifestyle, or do many Americans behave so badly that they offend people in other lands?"

I believe that you can wage war on people for things that they do, not for things that they think or feel. I also believe that people in general are easier to manage when they are afraid and looking to you for protection, so it's conceivable that much of the propaganda that we see is simply that, and the occasional arrest of someone who has yet to act fuels that fear. I also believe that people who prey on the emotions of others for personal gain are despicable. Politicians, morticians, and engagement ring stores all fall into that category.
