Taking Melatonin 1-2 hours before bedtime resets your body's biological clock to help you doze off and sleep without waking you throughout the night. I usually take 2 mg each night and it helps out and I don't feel tired the next morning. I also like the fact that it is more natural than other medicines. Melatonin can be found at health food stores.

If you look at most over the counter sllep aids the active ingredient is Diphenhydramine which is Benadryl, I would suggest buying plain (generic) Benadryl but see how you react to it, it does make most people sleepy but some people experience nervousness etc....

Go to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist, there are some over the counter sleep aids. Ask and they will direct you to the one that is best for you.

Tylenol PM works great, but only take it if you plan on sleeping at least 8 hours. If not, you could sleep through your alarm (happened to me). Also, one alcoholic drink works well.
