The confidence trickster, con man, grifter, scam artist or con artist are not necessarily the most intelligent but their study of human psychology is unbeatable. What else can you make of the oft repeated trick of asking a man at the Cashier's window in the bank there is dirt on his cloheses. He leaves the cash unproected and bends down. By the time he get up the cash is fone. Again the charlatans who would double the amout . The cash is parted ith and never returns much less twice over. the cleaning of jewellery in the presence of the owner is another trick. The ornaments disappear in front of he gullible cusomers dissolved in the cleansing fluit and the magician just shrugs and leaves. When they work in tandem with their accomplinces they can work wonders. Do you remember the story in the Panchatrnatr where three tricksters who met a man carrying a sheep at different intervals convinced him that what he was carrying was not sheep but a dog and he abandoned it. It is not that the confidence trickster that is extraordinarily clever but the person tricked is an ignoramus or surrenders his commonsense to greed.
Most confidence tricks exploit the greed and dishonesty of their victims. Often, the mark tries to out-cheat the con artist, only to discover that the mark has been manipulated into this from the start. This is such a general principle in confidence tricks that there is a saying among con men that "you can't cheat an honest man."[citation needed]
However, some tricks depend on the honesty of the victim. In a common scam, as part of an apparently legitimate transaction, the victim is sent a worthless check, which the victim then deposits. The victim is then urged to forward the value of the check to the trickster as cash, which they may do before discovering the check bounces. Another fashionable scenario (as of 2006) has the victim recruited as a "financial agent" to collect "business debts". Paper checks are not always involved: funds may be transferred electronically from another victim. More detail can be found at ScamSpeak.
Sometimes con men rely on naïve individuals who put their confidence in get-rich-quick schemes, such as "too good to be true" investments. It may take years for the wider community to discover that such "investment" schemes are bogus, and usually it is too late, as many people have lost their life savings in something they have been confident of investing in.

there is no doubt that con artists are just that, artists. plus, they are REALLY clever. however of course, they have no coinscience or moral, yet, thats for u to decide, whats worth more, knowledge or honesty. i dont really think intelligence can be rated though for like the top 10 in the world. IQ tests are just stupid. intelligence means ur bright, clever, and have a wide ranging knowledge of many topics, for the most part. both then again, whats worth more, book smarts, or street smarts. i think the ideal would be having both, and thats what con artists have
hope this helps ur cause, haha, cya

Don't confuse clever with intelligent. A clever person is the one who can con you but is not nesessarily inteligent. An intelligent person is someone who has a lot of knowledge and the common sense to know how to use it. Without the common sense as well it's useless.

I believe Stephen Hawking is the most intelligent person in the world because he doesn't consider himself the most intelligent person in the world. Plus he's attached to a chair and can only speak through a machine and keyboard. Although that could all just be a clever ploy to dupe us all. OH NO!

My candidate for most intelligent person is Stephen Hawking.
I don't think his intelligence is a con.
But, go to Georgia where they stick an "Evolution is just a theory" sticker on their biology books and you might get a different opinion of Dr. Hawking.

I have never known what clever is. Is it deception, is it astute, is it honesty. Clever is running your own life, with dreams brought to fruition, and never burning bridges. Clever is never going near anyone you do not like or trust. Clever is exhilarating.

the most intelligent person in the world is either noam chomsky or some unknown drop-out. the burden of such intelligence would surely make you lonely.

The highest IQ of a person living belongs to a man who lives in a 1-room house, and makes about $6000/yr. doing menial work. I don't think you're going to have to worry about him.

by definition, the most intelligent man is intelligent. Other wise, he would be the greatest con-artist.

Barry Bonds is intelligent. He has been fooling baseball and their fans for years. He makes many bucks and they can't wait to pay him more.
