Conservatives on the whole seem more concerned with property rights and are sometimes less supportive of individual freedoms while liberals seem more concerned with individual liberties and sometimes less supportive of property rights.
And those of us in the middle tend to, well, be in the middle.

Conservatives want the definition of freedom to come from the bible, Liberals want the same definition to come the the Constitution, and only the Constitution.

Liberals view of freedom is that everbody should be free to choose the morality they wish even at the expense of unborn children. Gay marriage and abortion especially are their fun little issues right now which conservatives find repulsive.
Conservatives view freedom more as America being a land of economic opportunity and the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. (But not at the expense of others or the morality of society)

The republicans are more concerned with fiscal freedoms. They don't want to take one person's money away just to give it to others. But they tend to want to legistlate morality. Their motto seems to be "If something is immoral, it must be illegal."
Democrats are quick to raise taxes and start programs, but are quicker to stay out of a person's personal life. (Except for those areas where Democrats are trying to illegalize cigarettes or even frendch fries!) Their motto seems to be "If something needs to be done, we need to start a huge government program to do it."
I'm more of a libertarian. I want the government out of my pocket & my bedroom.

A conservatives definition of freedom is that all peaople have the right to their opinion as well as the right to express it legally. A liberal's definition of freedom is that all people must agree with their opinion, and their job is to scare the hell out of you and blame a conservative. No, I do not have it backwards!

A conservative's view of freedom is lack of government intrusion into their lives, the right to keep what they earn, the right to protect their lives and property.
A liberal's view of freedom is not having to struggle to get the basic necessities of life; such as food, water, shelter, health-care.

Conservatives: you should be free to do anything that makes a buck and that is not against the Christian religion; if it causes harm to someone else who is not a conservative, too bad
Liberals: you should be free to do anything that doesn't harm anyone else

Conservatives believe you are free to buy whatever they have to sell. But you are not free to sell whatever they don't want to buy.
