It would be nice to know if you are referring to the University of Washington or the University of Wisconsin. Also are you now going into the 11th grade or the 12th grade.

If it's the 11th grade, then you have plenty of time to raise your GPA through hard study. Put doing your homework above all else.

When it comes time to send in your application to the UW, make sure you have an excellent cover letter. Sometimes, they won't even look at your application if your cover letter is poorly organized, has spelling errors, or uses poor grammar. There are plenty of websites that can give you suggestions in that area.

You could also take courses in how to do well on the SAT. This will cost some money, but it would be well spent if you take this route. Study your English and Writing so you can polish those skills. Communication skills are essential.

Good Luck!!

If for some reason you can't get into a college because of your GPA, go to community college for a year, and do well there. It's smart anyway because you can take the boring intro classes for less money, and then your GPA from community college will be more important than your highschool GPA. But don't panic yet. You could still get in. Just keep doing community service and maybe join some impressive clubs.

Do well on the SATs. Take a prep course if you are really serious.

Do well this year in school.

Do something to make yourself stand out. Get the lead in the play. Volunteer at the local Food Bank. Don't just do any community service. Do something you can write about in your UW application.

You need to get a high SAT score to make up for your low gpa. I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. I only read this SAT guide, and that is how I got such high scores:

I recommend this guide to anyone seeking to get a higher score to get into a first choice college.
