if you have good communication it can. my bf is goin away i find out in a couple weeks for how long. so i will be doin a long term relationship also. we have been for about three months. you will have hard times but you have to keep in contact whether it be letters or the phone - which can get expensive trust me i know. love will find a way if it is meant to be. think positive and good luck!

I believe so. i was in one for quite a while and it was a very rewarding relationship. the key is trust and honesty, just like all relationships. looking back, the key to a successful long distance relationship is how you re-unite. you have to keep in mind that you are used to being away from each other. so to go from that to the exact opposite, which would be seeing each other all the time, i believe is hazardous. when you do re-unite, take it slow, very slow, give it time. by then you will already love the hell out of him/her, so there should be no rush. ya just gotta have faith

If you love the person and the person feel the same it will work. Just remember communication and dedication is the key of a long term relationship.

If the people are crazy enough to wait that much. It's up to the people involved really. But that takes a lot of patience and dedication. I wouldn't want to wait that long and live so far away. That's why I moved to where my bf is. Much better now.

A year is long enough, but if you really want it to work just let me say it takes 110% all the time , every sigle day. If your looking for something easy then walk away now. If you want a challege well grab your saddle, its going to be a long ride.

tough call, it gets lonely, the silence is deafening at times, in times of trouble, you need the support of that someone specail, you don't mention "WHY" 7 years, schooling, jail, whatever, which plays a big part of it,
