Well it is very apparent that you have never experienced a storm of such magnitude. I live in Alabama and was fortunate enough to live far enough inland that it didn't personally effect me. But I saw and talked with a number of displaced individuals to know the devastation was real. I also lived in South Carolina when Hugo hit Charleston and experienced the strength of that storm first hand having damage done to my property.
