Most cleaning doesn't need doing to the degree it's done. So long as a place is reasonably clean and hygienic, it's fine. An obsession with cleanliness is an obsessive disorder. But women have mostly been denied proper employment for most of history, and have been homemakers. Homes get dirty, and just sitting in one is boring. To alleviate the boredom, women would tidy and clean. This was obviously better than being in a mess. But it was therefore important to elevate this to the status of some kind of "real" work. Cleanliness therefore became considered important. Men had always had the opportunity to do paid employment, did not have time to clean and did not need to stave off boredom with menial tasks. Now that women have the opportunity to work in most professions and their time is as occupied as men's, perhaps they'll give up on the need to polish lightbulbs and clean between the bathroom tiles with an old toothbrush and bleach. That cleaning that actually DOES need doing should be shared.

I think men are the far superior cleaners for precisely the reasons you have mentioned. Men have larger hands and fingers that are less delicate, they can clean larger areas faster and with less irritation to their rough manly skin. Their lack of attention to detail is also a plus as they don't get caught up in fussing over small areas and can then clean the whole house much quicker!
Compulsive nature can lend itself to many things ,the least of which is cleaning as far as Ive heard from other women.

Because they know that if the wife isn't happy with it she will redo rather than complain that he didn't do it right. Sometimes half-right just has to do. Really I know some men who are much better at cleaning than women. I think it is part how you were raised and part that comes from inside!Such as obsessive compulsive people who go overboard but there is something that happened to them in their childhood that makes them compulsive. My oldest son keeps his house, yard, and garage spotless and in place, my next son is average, my daughter is a slob and lazy but they all came from the same home. My home has always been clean. It was immaculant when the kids were babies and toddlers so I guess the oldest learned from that!Best wishes!

Men can clean. In fact single been are very tidy. In a relationship the man acts stupid. That way hes not asked to pitch in and help. They are not stupid. Or you can go back many years and they only needed to hunt and bring home the bacon.

Women clean better beacause they have experience. Men dont because probably they would only be watching football games and other sports. and men have stuff that there bettterat it than women for example fixing cars. Thats my opinion.

Hmm... no I wouldn't necessarily say that, that is true:
I've seen a lot of men you clean up and guess what they're better... I'm not taking your side as a girl because I find it that when a guy cleans... he is very neat. And cleans without leaving any dust around :)

I think cleaning is got nothing to do with being man or woman.....i think its about what you define as clean. I know men who are cleanliness crazy and do a better job at it than many women.

Cause our society has expected it!!!!
Women started shaving thier legs when they could finally wear knee length skirts in the 20's in America, but no other culture expects women to shave their legs. It makes us feel more confident and pretty. Pampering is fun and relaxing.
