The main reason is that liberals really hate the US form of government and want to get rid of it .

It's not "terrorist" rights we care about - it's human rights - and that includes you and me and everybody else on the planet. It is improper to call anybody a terrorist without first presenting proof of his/her involvement in such activity. It's called innocent until proven guilty - perhaps you've heard of it - it is the fundamental underpinning of our justice system. If we give Bush or anyone else the authority to call someone a terrorist and imprison them without proof (like he is doing now) then it is an attack not only on the rights of the imprisoned person but on all people everywhere. It will only be a matter of time before more of our hard won rights are taken away by ideologues who claim to be acting in the public interest and politicians start imprisoning people for political gain. I would rather have a 9/11 happen every day than let even one person be imprisoned falsely. Terrorists will always be terrorists, and one cannot expect them to behave any diffrently. The rest of us on the other hand, have a moral obligation to uphold our rights and our freedom no matter what the situation. The minute we start lowering our ethical barriers to compete with the level that "they" follow, we have already lost.

It is very interesting that you ask about why liberals do not want US citizens to have liberty, then ask why the Dems vote against wiretapping and patriot act. Very interesting indeed......

what liberty?
The Military Commissions act of 2006 gives Bush the ability to declare ANYONE, including U.S. citizens, an enemy combatant and detain them indefinitely.
"The bill also currently includes provisions so sweeping that they strip U.S. courts of jurisdiction over habeas petitions by any non-citizen detained by the government anywhere. Because there is no geographic limitation in the bill's language, it would allow the President to detain any non-citizen without their ever having the chance to challenge their detention in court"

Why does Mark Foley - R-Florida care more about seducing
little children rather that running his states government?
You might want to make that - terrorizing little children.

those very things that dems voted against that you listed... many have invastions of privacy and no governmental oversight clauses in them...
privacy and governmental oversight are the cornerstones of our American policital values... they ensure our liberties and freedoms?
it's like you're making points against yourself?
HERE'S AN IDEA... go read the 9-11 report... go AFTER THE TERRORISTS THAT HIT US... then, when they are dead, we won't have to change the rules America was founded on!
