I just got my ipod a couple days ago and can't figure out how to put the media files i already have onto it. The itunes help says click upload or add folder to library, but for some reason it just won't work. Please HELP!

I definately wouldnt set my iTunes to automatic, since you may not want some mp3's in your ipod.
When you plug in your iPod to your computer, you should see it in iTunes in the left Source bar. When you do, click on your iPod icon to see what's in your ipod. Then, I would open up the folder where your mp3's are stored and then drag the mp3's that you want into your iTunes on your ipod icon. The mp3s will copy.

Another way is to open iTunes, and import your mp3's. Once you do that, you can drag the mp3s that you want into your ipod icon on the left Source bar.

the end.
