What you're talking about is probably a lot more common than you think. Many people get really anxious about talking on the telephone. Some simply refuse to answer the phone at all. And there are varieties in between - I recall hearing of a case where a person enjoyed calling a boyfriend, but would never call or pick up if she didn't know who would be on the other end of the line.

Most respectable psychologists simply refer to this as a type of social phobia. Scammers and those with less respectability call it telephonophobia or just phonophobia. No matter what you call it, it is probably treatable.
