Yes, it's quite a performing art. You need professional instruction.

Argentine Tango is a dance of much passion, and when I started to learn it I was told it would take a man 2 years to learn to lead it (to competency) and a woman 4 months to learn to follow it (to competency). I have separately received some instruction in American Ballroom Tango as part of Ballroom Classes that included Tango, but I have sought out Argentine Tango classes as the Dance Style to learn specifically.

It does take concentration to learn to lead and follow in a new dance style. Argentine Tango is Intricate. It's also a lot of fun.

If there were not such a dedicated following for Argentine Tango here, perhaps I would not feel that I have the resources available to learn Argentine Tango, but there is a community here that dances Argentine Tango and only Argentine Tango (while I also dance Ballroom dances outside of Tango), But it is this community that makes the classes and instruction to learn Tango available and that is a wonderful thing.

Go ahead and try Tango, I think you're gonna love it.

It is very difficult. But it will start with basics just like any other dance (duh). So, find a good instructor and make sure that it is Argentine Tango that you are learning. Then master the tango walk (just weight shifting, that's all). And then, dance with the best leaders in any milonga within your area.

Remember one thing, Tango is pure creativity and improvisation, and once you are at the point being a decent dancer, you should stop thinking about moves. Just let it go, feel the music and react to the music and the lead.

It's not much harder than other dances like Foxtrot or Waltz.

It looks harder than it really is :-) It looks very dramatic compared to other dances. That makes it look more impressive and hard.

Yeah, find a good instructor - then it will be a lot of fun to learn it.

if you like to dance... tango is not hard is just complex
meaning that you must feel the music another thing is that
you must be very confident with your partner......is not a very hard dance... is a very artistic one.

If you do it the right way, it is. People study this dance for years to get it right.

If you let yourself go and be conscience free you would do very well.
