The other morning I found I had run out of nappies for my 10 month old. I planned to take him straight to the shop to get more, but he decided to do a huge stinky. I couldnt take him out like that, so I tried making a substitute. Firstly I used a muslin cloth like a terry towelling nappy - and then cut 2 leg holes in a carrier bag, but it wouldnt stay on! Then I got one of my daughters dolls nappies, and put that on him with a pair of my daughters knickers to hold it in place! Oh what fun us mothers have! I dont plan on running out again, but just in case - any better ideas?!

dont listen to that bloke up there, you sound like a great mother, at least you didnt leave a stinky nappy on your child. a couple of times i had to use my eldest childs nappies which were double the size of my babies and hope she only weed while i was down the shop. it happens to everyone.

How about trying out what my sister-in-law once did. She used a regular bath towel, folded it like a cloth diaper, pinned it on her daughter with ordinary diaper pins, and used a plastic kitchen catcher garbage bag with the bottom corners cut out as rubber pants. The combination actually worked.

i never encountered this problem but, if i did i would use a towel with safety pins or some undies and a plastic bag of some sort rush to the store grab the diapers open the pack and immediatly diaper my child . then pay for the diapers and aplogize to the store manager for opening the diapers before i paid for them

I always take one nappy out of the pack when I buy them and keep it somewhere else other than the changing station. That way I always have one extra when I run out.

well in such a case wrap anything like a hand towel and keep a nappy changing mat or any other towel to soak in the car seat or buggy, n rush to the shop.
But always keep nappies here n there, like one in your baby bag, one in another drawer for such runout days....i do this and in last minute i always have atleast one nappy left....cheeers
