I am learning a foreign language via a website and it would be nice to have them portable.

The short answer - no. You MAY however be able to find software that converts from Real Audio to MP3 or AAC format and then put those files on the iPod. I'm not aware of such software myself, but I'm sure other people on this board (or googling it) will be able to help you out. However, I don't know if this software will work for streaming (i.e., "live") Real Audio files.
