He was the one that let the Allatollah take over the Sha of Iran. And ever since, Iran has been an big enemy of the United States.
Dou you think we woudlnt be in the problem that we are know if Carter would of put a strong hand and not let the Allatollah overturn the Iranian Govt. by extremists? I mean, he had the perfect reason why to defend the Sha after these extremists kidnapped American Soldiers.
Carter was the laugh of the Middle East at the time when all the POW were kidnapped in Iran in 1979 and he didnt do anything about it for months and months until President Regan took office and resolved the problem.

Because He hates America as a capitalist Model...
When I think of him, I think of his brother; Billy.. drinking and driving. Public Drunkeness, etc.
I remember Billy Saying...
"The only thing I can say is there is a hell of a lot more Arabians than there is Jews." He also argued that the "Jewish media [tore] up the Arab countries full-time," and defended Libya against charges of state-sponsored terrorism by saying that a "heap of governments support terrorists and [Libya] at least admitted it."
Of Course he did say that after he registered as a foreign agent of the Libyan government and admitted to receiving a $220,000 from the them.

I think of the embarrassment of the Iran Hostage Rescue..How our military, so inept, through downsizing, budgetary constraints, and limited intelligence (During his first month in office he cut the defense budget by $6 Billion), lead to the deaths of eight servicemen, and damaged the image of the USA even more.

While he kept trying to "understand" and "talk" to the Soviets, they were busy planning the invasion of Afghanistan..Only then did he see the light and lean more to the right and began to rebuild American military.

I think of his inability to effectively reduce soaring interest rates and inflation rates, or to lower unemployment. The "Misery Index", his favored measure of economic well-being, rose 50% in four years. He feuded with the Democratic leaders who controlled Congress and, as a result, was unable to reform the tax system or to implement a national health plan.

Since then Jimmy Carter has become an outspoken defender of the terrorist group Hamas which, according to the Jerusalem Post, calls for the nuclear destruction of Israel in a nuclear holocaust.Carter told CNN that Hamas may consist of "so-called terrorists," but added "there have been no complaints of corruption against [their] elected officials."Carter conceded that some in Hamas "deny Israel's right to exist," but defended the group's legitimacy as a political party.

I think of him praising and hugging the Terrorist Scvm, Yasser Arafat, and get sick to my stomach...Carter even volunteered to be Arafat's speechwriter and go-fer, crafting palatable messages for Arafat's Western audiences and convincing the Saudis to continue funding Arafat after the Palestinians sided with Iraq against the United States.

He's praised the mass-murdering leaders of Syria and Ethiopia.

I think of how he was such a big champion for the U.N. , only to find out that he was connected to the key figure in the U.N.'s oil-for-food scandal; Samir Vincent, who pleaded guilty to participating in numerous illegal activities as part of the U.N. scandal.

I think of how he treasonously sucks up to Communist leaders and enemies of the U.S. Like when Carter said of Kim Il Sung, a brutal Stalinist dictator, "I found him to be vigorous, intelligent, surprisingly well-informed about the technical issues and in charge of the decisions about this country."

I think of when he publicly told Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, "Our goals are the same".

I think of how he grumbled about the legitimate vote that ousted Sandanista Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.

I think of how he allows Fidel Castro, & Hugo Chavez to shamelessly use him as a propaganda foil against his own government.

I think of what a Traitor to the American People he is..Hiding behind the veil of heroic endeavours like habitat for humanity.

Many former leaders of this country dropped the ball leading us to the "new Vietnam" we are waging a war that we can't win. Once we leave the entire country will go back to the stone age way of conducting life. We are just wasting money and lives being there, and we all know...gas prices will never be under $2.00 again. I guess it's time for the US to stop buying tanker truck SUV's and start to be a little more conscientious of the environment as we save at the pump.

the world has changed a lot since then... and didn't the CIA try to overthrow the government? and wasn't the overthrow before the kidnappings? so there was no reason to defend the sha until after the revolt was over?

I mean... you talk big now, but no one in the U.S. would've supported an invasion... hindsight is 20/20, but if you don't look at what was possible at the time, you're just being naive...

I think most would agree that Reagan's support of Osama and Saddam was much worse in hindsight, than Carter's inaction... but like I said, hindsight is 20/20... and it's all kind of pointless now...

Because Bush is a retard! He has the full force of the American Army and he can't control the insurgents in it. What about the consequences of his actions? What about the thousands of innocent civilians that have died during the "War on Terror"? And the soldiers that have died for the so-called greater good? I feel sorry for them all. People don't care as much that these people are dying because they are a different race and religion. I bet the Western world would be up in arms if we attacked Sweden. The American public doesn't identify with the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush took advantage of this when he started this war. All this from a president who stole the election. What did you expect?

The sha was instilled by the British and Americans as a puppet. The people wanted the wealth from oil to themselves and rightly so. Do us a favour, stop thinking with your head stuck up your **** and get your history checked for humanity's sake.
