Hello, I'm looking for some information from people around the United States for moving advice. I currently reside in Houston, and I plan to leave due to the humidity, overpopulation, and declining neighborhoods.

I'm looking to move towards a place with a generally warm, dry climate (no humidity!), a mid-size population, and an affordable housing market ( I plan to make around $45,000 yearly after I complete college). So far, I've thought about Flagstaff, Arizona but I understand it is very expensive to live there. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I live in the Northern side of Houston, around Greenspoint Mall. I'd rather just move out of Texas in general, I suppose than keep staying here. Kinda want to branch off on my own, leave the family type thing.

There are many nice, quaint towns in Arizona, but Flagstaff is not one of them. Its fairly crowded, especially with weekend visitors, and the houses are very expensive. But I guess you get what you pay for. Flagstaff is a vibrant community with amazing scenery.

It all depends on your situation and what type of job you're looking for. Flagstaff would certainly have more opportunities than your average town, particularly if you're entering the service industry, but expect wages to be low. Remember, you're not the only person who wants to live there.

I guess it boils down to this: you live where you can find a job and afford a good life. Flagstaff is beautiful city, but it may be a little out of reach. Then again, you only live once. Moving somewhere you enjoy might be worth the additional burden.

Here's my advice: Take some time and travel the country, see what parts you like, then go from there. Who knows, your dream city could be Anchorage.

If you plan to move out of Texas, as you stated, I suggest Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, all of these have less humidity than houston, Tx.

As for towns in these states, here's some that people have report as good places to live that are less expensive then Houston.

Yukon, Ok.
Hot Springs, Ak.
Spring Field, Mo.

All of these I have been to and all are nice places with the same stuff available with in 12 miles of them as houston, w/o the humid climate.

I could not wait to leave Houston too. I lived off of Beamer, that was a good area, as far as Houston goes. I moved to Denver. It is nice, affordable, you can go skiing, or take a raft ride down the river on a warm day. I would never leave here. BTW it snows in Flag Staff as well.

RUN! and NEVER look back!
