I have seen WAY too many questions from teens/kids on here about pregnancy and such...
then I wonder.. where are all the parents these days!? They should be the first one the little girls should be talking to! But no... she's asking Yahoo!Answers instead... that's pitiful.
What kind of parents are we, this day in age, where our own children can't talk to us about important things such as pregnancies and sex... think about THAT!
Now.. go talk to your kids about sex, alcohol, drugs, boys, girls, periods, SEX, smoking, peer pressure, honesty... etc. (YOU get the picture!)
Quit making those topics such a "no-no" subject... our children are getting taught these things from other kids who don't know the truth! Be the truth to your kids!

This question also stems from experience - I got pregnant at age 18... Molested by a man 19 years older than me by the age of 15... And not once did my parents talk to me about sex, pregnancy or anything of the sort... it makes me wonder... why a man 19 years older than me had to teach me about sex... Why did I think that I couldn't get pregnant when I was 18?
Where was the education that was sooo badly needed!?

Well, I can only speak for myself. I got pregnant at 17. I didn't come to yahoo answers for advise. I actually told my parents, can you believe it? My mom and dad were always really open with me about everything. My mom got pregnant with me at 17 while being on birth control, so we had that talk MANY times. My uncle smoked crack for years, ended up in a coma in the hospital, so I pretty much had the drug talk constantly. Like I said, I had very open, honest parents yet I still became pregnant at 17( I also wasn't living on my with my parents was very close to being done with school). I have to admit though, talking to your kids helps a lot. Another situation; My daughter is 2 1/2 now, at least my oldest is. 4 months ago my 15 year old cousin came to my house telling me SHE was pregnant. I tried telling her how difficult it is going to be and she replied by saying "Well, you and Billy do just fine." Billy is my fiance. He fathered both of my children. I explained to her that we are TOGETHER, that we both had good jobs, that we were both out of school, etc. Anyways, because my aunt never sat her down and talked to her about it, this is what happened. This girl has already been pregnant and miscarried at 13. I told her mom then that she needed to talk to her and she said that her daughter would never think of having sex while she was still in school....goes to show you what not talking to your kids does.

That is totally the truth. And unlike "ZIVA" if the parents inform that 13 year old girl properly, she wouldn't be coming to them asking if she could be pregnant!! It's all about the honest open lines of communication.
Parents need to take back their responsibilities as a parent and do the right thing with their kids. This world would be a much better place.

I agree with you! If kids do not learn about stuff from parents they will learn about it elsewhere even if it is false info. Parents should have a open door with their kids to discuss things even if it makes them uncomfortable. They should think of it as if they don't someone else will and what if that person gives false info to a kid. It is sad that in this world today kids can get info about anything on the internet but they can not talk to their parents about important stuff they need to know.

its sad because most of the teens that ask "am i pregnant" aren't really pregnant but they want to be ....really bad. There is obviously some ATTENTION SEEKING going on right? That's when the parents and the children need to be spending time with each other and discussing pregnancy...

Girl i'm so with u. I say the same thing when i read the questions. These day parents aren't involve as they use to. Mostly trying to keep up with material things instead of what matters most. Our kids. We are the role models and their first educator. We need to keep the lines of communication open to them. If we don't.......u'll C

You are soo right! I recently was pregnant (I'm 18.btw.). but gave my baby up for adoption. Parents need to sit down and talk with their kids that is very, VERY important. Doesn't always mean they will not get pregnant, etc., but at least their having conversations with them.

Because if your 13 year old came to you to ask if she could be pregnant, you'd slap the crap out of her just like most parents would.
