Democracy has been in trouble for a long time. The "free" trade agreements have essentially gutted the democratic process by making international constitutions that entrench the privilege of the rich corporations at the expense of the hard earned citizen rights that people thought had been won over time.
Unfortunately any such arrangements will mean a race for the bottom, and, of the three countries, Canada has the most to lose in such a race. It's time too vote and get involved; we need proportional representation. At the moment it seems that the NDP is the only party that consistently presents real Canadian values.
If we are forced into such a union, we should at least insist on a parliament that is representative, something like the European parliament.

I saw a bit on CNN Lou Dobbs. He did a poll of Americans Against 96% in favour 4%.
I would expect the same results for Canadians

i haven't heard anything about it but it don't sound like a bad deal. 1/2 of Mexico is already here and Canada has national health insurance. sounds like a win win situation.

I, for one, welcome out new Mexamericanadian overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Yahoo! Answers personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their bureaucracy mines.
