It happens because when you cough you tighten your intercostal muscles and abdominal muscles. This reduces the space in your abdomin and squeezes your bladder slightly. If there is any urine in there, some may be forced out. If you strenthen your urethral sphincter you can help prevent this incontinence. For severe cases surgery is available. Kegel excercises can help you strengthen your pelvic muscles and this may assist in strengthening your urethral sphincter muscle.

Your cough must be strong? Check w/ the doctor. Could be something you need antibiotics for since it MAY be a strong cough causing you too pee a little. Hehe, that's funny. I just talked about this with my mom this morning. That's what happened to her, and she needed anit-biotics.

Welcome to being female!! Your bladder muscles are weak. Do kagles to strengthen them.(you know, clench your privates) just as you do to stop peeing mid-stream. Do this several reps several times a day.
