right now i'm in geometry and that is two maths levels ahead of my grade, i think that it is really really easy and i'm not sure if i should go to algebra 2 or just stay in geometry right now i have a 106.49% in the class, and i hate the teacher because she has no idea what she's teaching, she doesn't even understand paragraph proofs so we have to write two-column proofs or else she'll count them as wrong because she doesn't understand them... what should i do should i go to algebra 2 or stay in geometry i'm not even in high school yet what should i do???

she honestly has no idea what she's teaching because she has actually told us that she doesn't understand the chapter and had to read it 4 or 5 times just to get the gist of it and she honestly says that she doesn't understand paragraph proofs she has told us this stuff before and she says that she is supposedly a highly qualified teacher and took classes all about proofs and yet she still doesn't get paragraph proofs...

Is there a math club you can join? Or will you have to wait until high school?

Usually mathematicians will protect their young to the death. Find a teacher who DOES understand math and is willing to teach you a little bit of the more advanced material.

Paragraph proofs are perfectly appropriate in certain situations but "T chart proofs", or two column proofs, are the correct format for an Honors Geometry class, as they encourage rigor. Your teacher is doing T chart proofs for a reason. Make sure all your justifications are sound. In my school teachers are not allowed to give any extra credit, so I am a little confused as to how you can have over 100%. You should definitely finish geometry before moving to algebra II, as geometry is a basic class and you can't just skip it because you think it's easy. Geometry can get extremely difficult, so if you are bored, ask your teacher to give you extra harder materials or read later chapters of the textbook by yourself. Your teacher is a college graduate, and you are younger than 14 years old, so just because you have a high score in her class doesn't make her "stupid" (believe me, I'm a senior in HS and I have surely had "stupid" teachers but they are normally better than you think). If you have not gone to HS yet, then you have plenty of time to take advanced classes in HS. It's important for you to get the basics down. Honestly, Algebra II is NOT an important class, it is far less important AND far less difficult in terms of new material covered than geometry. If you understand algebra, algebra II is almost exactly the same -- just different applications.

In that case, why don't you go to your local bookstore or library and check out some math books, if you want to learn more math? You can check out some algebra with analysis books or even precalc/calculus if you feel ambitious (the first couple chapters of calculus deal with very simple yet important concepts and you can probably handle them). it would also be a good idea to get geometry books in supplement to what you're in.

Is there another teacher that teaches it? If so, and if it is still super easy, then go to algebra 2. And all I got to say is wow. I thought I was good at math, I am a freshman in a sophmore level class. But wow, u must have pretty smart people at ur school, if they have geometry. :) Also, tell your school board or something that this teacher has no idea what she is doing.

i'm an 8th grader in Algebra 2 and a ton of it is review of Algebra 1 with some added things. It's really not that hard as long as the teacher is nice and helping. If your same teacher is teaching Algebra 2, try talking to her about it if you can.

go on to more advanced topics. If u think math is easy, then u should have no problem with more advanced math. Years from now, u will realize that u have made the right choice. I have been there. I finished multi-variable calculus before high school.
