There's no truth to that statement. It's just one of many superstitions about women and/or pregnancy. There's also a superstion that a pregnant mother shouldn't touch the hair of any other children she may have because their hair will fall out. The thing is, some women actually believe it! Any woman on her period is perfectly fine touching a newborn. In fact, the newborn can only continue to do well with human touch. Your concern can be put to rest.

Well, that's just silly! Women bleed for a long time starting as soon as the baby is born. Now, if the bleeding mommy didn't touch her newborn, that would be where the problem would come in. I guess you're not as gullible as someone thought you were! Keep asking when things like this come up and you will remain a step ahead!

There are all kinds of myths about menstruating women, like we turn into Unclean Witches once a month. These myths were started by men and have continued through men to this day. Women in parts of the Middle East are not allowed outside the house during their period, and others are not allowed to enter a room where men are present.

That would be rather difficult if you gave birth to one. Does that mean you would have to leave it to fend for itself while you have a period??
