Yes, Halloween is a great movie indeed. I just bought a remastered version of the DVD and the quality is amazing and very improved. I at least recommend renting the new version if you haven't bought it.
My favorite scary movie is Psycho. It is a genius piece of work by Mr. Hitchcock and still plays a huge influence in movies today. Everybody knows the famous shower scene, and that's pretty impressive.

A Nightmare On Elm Street series is my favorite. Some of the movies tend to lean to the comedic side sometimes. Wes Cravens New Nightmare was a more serious movie. I liked the nature freddy maintained in that film. Although I did not like the way he looked.

It's not my favorite, but Children of Corn gave me the willies. Omen, the orginal one, the little boy gave me the willies, and a freaky old movie called Evil Dead. That movie scared the heck out of me. I have to agree to with Halloween, nothing like a oldie.

i like gazing the said video clips, for the traps. also love Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs- the evaluation between the undesirable acts and the classical song only elevates the sickening feeling you get! (somewhat in Hannibal the position Mason Verger tries to peel his face off.)

Like you, I am a fan of the classics and don't think you can top the original Poltergeist.
