people are so quick to say they dont like this and that and go on and on about how bad a certain kind of music is or how people talk or what kind of people they dont like. but i think the reason people are like that is because they dont undertand. they dont understand the music, they dont understand why people talk they way they do, they dont understand why people act the way they act, ect...
you get one quick experience with something and as soon as you pick something out about that you dont like, all of it is bad, therefore you dont like it.
we are so quick to judge, it just makes us less educated about the world and we are stuck in our own little world surrounded by the things that we think we like, when there is a whole other world out there that you could be learning about so that you can UNDERSTAND it better.

While you may have a point, in my opinion, it is over generalized and somewhat simplistic.

Case in point: ME

I am a heterosexual male with 22 years of active duty in the US military. I have all the experience and training in both of those areas. Based on your statement, because I have studied war, participated in same, and been trained to understand and evaluate my enemy I should love war. Conversely, while I have dated many women, loved a few, and married two, I still have very little understanding of what makes them work so I should hate them.

Neither of these assumptions are true. Like most military people I hate war. I realize it's necessity at times, but I also realize I could be the first to make the ultimate sacrifice. And, and I do love the ladies.

I think it might be better said, "we are more apt to fairly evaluate those things we better understand and less apt to fairly evaluate those things we are ignorant of".

When I was in grade school in the late 50s a teacher once told the class that "appreciation" was the ability of one to assign "something" its "just value". Perhaps "hate" and "like" in your question might be better served with the word "appreciate".

BTW, "hate" has such power it should NEVER be wasted on anything as frivolous as music or the color of clothing. Save it for those who would kill your family, burn your neighborhood, destroy your way of life, enslave you or worse.

Ideals are a wonderful thing but can only be exercised by someone being protected by a shield of realism.

Have a great day…

Bottom line is you won't necessarily like something simply because you understand it. And the opposite is equally true.

i don't hate pagans, gays, atheists or non believers. What i detect on Yahoo is totally some very nasty people who can't ask a question without it being rather gross approximately Jesus who i admire. In my existence i understand each and every of the approximately varieties of persons and love all of them. Yahoo has a manner of having us pissed off at one yet another. So Hugs to all and function a Merry Christmas or happy holiday journeys or have a sip of beer and Cheers.

No because that's not true with me. There are some things that I understand perfectly fine that I don't like and things that I don't understand all that much that I do like. I don't think most people fit into the category you said. I'm not stuck in my own little world, I have a very open mind and outlook on life.

Sometimes when you can't understand something, it's sexy and mysterious. When something's too predictable, it gets monotonous.
