My husband and I Christmas tradition is this: We go and pick out an ornament together for our tree each year and then we buy each other an ornament each year as a surprise and we get to open our ornament gift on christmas eve and hang it on the tree. Its so much fun. I always can't wait to see what ornament he has picked out for me.

Our tradition is that everyone fills everyone else's stockings. It started when I (the youngest of my parents' kids) got into Junior High School. My mom was tired of watching us kids have all the fun, and decided that everyone should get in on it. So, she had me make all of us really big stockings. It has gotten to the point that often, what's in your stocking is better than what's under the tree...you know what they say, good things come in small packages!

We all get something small for everyone else, and try to sneak it in when no one is watching. Often, the stuff will be wrapped, just to help keep it secret. Many of us also give small bits of candy, so there's lots of different stuff every time!

Now that you've brought it up, I can hardly wait!!!

Wegelia (V-gee-lee-ah) - is a Polish tradition passed down for a minimum of 300 years that we can track. while we've changed it up a little basically.... 12.24 - i being the youngest of the siblingss take the youngest children outside to watch for the first star. when we see it (or pretend on cloudy nights) we rush in to tell everyone and then get ready to dine. We pass the oplatek ( a wafer) and break it with each other with Wesolych Swiiat (Merry Christmas) and other words from ther heart - shring our piece with each member - my dad's the eldest so he passes it to each person. then it's sitting down to a 7-9 or 13 course meatless dinner -- hhmmmm it's wonderful (lake perch, pierogi, kapsta....) there is a white table cloth over some straw of hay, there is an empty seat for a stranger that might need room (& also in memory of those that are no lnger with us in body). then we open some gifts - a new tradition is i take the older nephews to the store and they get something for everyone, pass it out and watch while it's opened and share in that special part of giving. some of us then go to midnight mass.
another thing i did after my grandparents passed away.... i made ornaments for my mom's tree - pictures of the family. a new star goes on top every year - the recent family picture. new ornaments are added as people change and new babies are born -- it's really a treat for everyone. there is an ornament with every member of the family that is no longer with us and i try to find one from a past christmas.
there is more but i'm sure ya'll are bored already LOL

thanks for letting me remember!

Say, I really like your idea. We choose a new ornament each year, alternating year to year which of us selects it. We also open one gift on Christmas Eve since it was my family's practice to open gifts then. My wife's family opened their gifts Christmas morning; so we open the remainder of any gifts then. I endeavor to read the Christmas Story from the Bible each year, but have found it difficult to do so of late, as we've had anxious relatives with us who don't want to wait for the reading before opening gifts. I've a new tradition I want to start that I've made notes on, but sorry to say I can't find the notes just now; we've recently moved and things are still a bit unorganized. Do like your ornament idea. Will suggest it to my wife, if you don't mind.

We make a homemade ornament each year for our tree. Then I buy one with all our names engraved on it with the year. My oldest daughter loves doing this and I hope my twins will to. They will be almost 2 so I can imagine what they will make. Whatever it is, I will proudly hang it on the tree for everyone to see.

silly string. Everyone gets silly string in their stocking so we have to hold everyone back until we say "go" - then everyone races to get theirs first and start spraying! It's really funny (in a sad way) for the little ones and other family members to be totally confused and freaked out from the noise and stuff flying everywhere. I am chuckling thinking about my daughter when she was 2 freaking out crying from the chaos(I know, it's mean). She's 16 now and the fastest draw in the house so I'm over it.

Another tradition is getting to open one present on christmas eve... and it's always pajamas.

I can't wait to give gifts. Since my girls were little. I'm in my 50's now. My girls and my Grandsons all get birthday and Xmas gifts early, then more, then more. I get them on great sales. But I can't wait to give them. I can't wait to give them to anybody. Everyone gets them early. My whole family, friends, etc. I don't care what I get, but what I've got to give, I can't wait. Gosh, it was great when my girls were little. My Dad had this problem, I know I got it from him. I'm just worse. I had a bonus check once, and as I was putting things in the buggy for my Grandson, my daughter was taking things out. I was so mad after I found out. As long as the bills are paid. Now I'm retired, so I get everything on sale. Waiting just kills me. Now it's as if, something might happen between now and next month, or the following month. I don't know? I think I'm being smart to buy early on sale, but I can never wait. Never. Now they try to make me wait. Yesterday my daughter stoped me from giving her a ring early. I already gave her some other gifts. Her birthday is Oct. 12. I'm an Aries, not that that matters. But I'm crazy. And I really like the idea of giving a gift for no reason, but that I love you, and I thought of you. Now that I'm older, those Xmas with my kids were the best memories ever, I couldn't wait for them to come home from school to get a present. Then I had to shop all over again. As long as the bills were paid. Money is just money. It's people that matter. Like someone else said, "Thank you for helping me remember"!!!!

Our Christmas tradition is to have a great big family row which then gets laboriously discussed and analysed throughout the year 'til the next Christmas...none of us wants to... we all intend for it not to happen...but it just does...there are good moments too...we play games, eat well, enjoy jokes, sing together and so on but eventually, no doubt due to charged emotions a quarrel rears it's ugly head.

We submit various trees. the first tree changed into submit on Friday. This one is for the grandchildren. each and each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days we purchase each and each of our grandchildren an ornament to operate to their colletcion. each and each baby has their own variety like angels, snowmen ect. On Friday after Thanksgiving the toddlers help us placed the tree at the same time then each body receives to cling their own adorns. at the same time as they get married they could take their adorns to start up their own tree. Our significant tree is 8 ft tall. i'm afraid i do not understand what variety it really is in spite of the indisputable fact that it really is somewhat finished and attractive.. I beautify it with over 1000 clean light fixtures. all the adorns are both crystal, pearl, cut back glass or hand-blown. maximum all the adorns in this tree help us to shop in ideas only what the vacation is all about. maximum of them are miniature nativity scenes, church homes, angels, crosses, snowflakes and bells. lots of the adorns actually have somewhat tale that is going with it like the position we were given it at or something humorous that occurred after we offered it. putting up the tree and remembering each and each of the thoughts of previous Christmases makes for an impressive relatives time. The tree skirt is one my grandmother made for us the first Christmas we were marrried. It places only the right very last contact to the tree. i will placed that tree up around the fifth -10th. you're perfect, putting the tree up helps to placed anybody contained in the Christmas mood. playing Christmas carols jointly is likewise relaxing.
