I'm very sorry for your loss.

I'd get the whole family together and, firstly visit his grave or his favourite spot, then spend the day doing something you know he enjoyed. He probably wouldn't want everyone sitting around the house, miserable.

Also, have you considered naming a star after him or planting a tree in his honour? In some areas, they even have benches, which can have a plaque put on them in memorial of someone so maybe you should look into that, especially if there is a bench in a special area that he liked visiting.

I'm sorry my husband passed last year and for his birthday this year I went to the cemetery to visit me and a few close friends and brought flowers and had a big BBQ at this really nice park in remembrance of him. Then that night me and his family and friends got together and lighted some candle and said a prayer. every birthday, anniversary we do something real nice to keep him in or memories. May God Bless you and your family. I Truly Know how you all feel.

I am so very sorry for you loss. Maybe a scholarship at his school in his remembrance.
Plant a tree at his school with a little plaque of some kind.
If he was into sports...something along that lines.

maybe have someone edit a video of clips from him growing up

u can make some sort of scrap books with a lot of pictures, medals, etc, things u can put in the book, posters, etc.

have a family gathering in honor of him, but make it a Happy one, because you were lucky to have known him, even if it was a short amount of time

visit his gravesite and put flowers there, make it an annual thing

maybe u can ask all ur friends and family to come over and video tape then one by one, interviewing and asking questions. "what is ur favorite memory of him?" stuff like that... then u can make a copy for everyone so they can have.

good luck, i'm sorry for your loss.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I would suggest something small, just family. But if you want people to remember him, then I guess hold something publicly. But if you want just family, then I would say the regular birthday cake (maybe his favorite, or favorite food?) and hold him in your minds and hearts. I hope you all are okay and that he is in peace.

Im sorry that happened to you. Maybe you should play old videos of him or make a picture slideshow of how he has grown up. Then you can do what his passion is, get a shirt with hi name on it! Be creative! Or maybe y'all can do his fav sport or something.

OMG, I feel so bad for you. U shouldn't be burying him, and I would never wish that upon anyone. I will pray for u and your family. Try doing something he would never expect, or somthing he would like. Like for example, If his parents are divorced and argue constantly, try for them to make peace. Or do something super he would have loved! Best Wishes

my condolences...

you can initiate a video presentation of his life. it can be composed of his pictures and home videos. include his favorites. you can also get footages from family members and his friends. let them make short messages for him as if he can physically watch the presentation.

for the closing, you can give everyone a little something that will always remind them of him. for example, a picture of him when he was in his happiest in whatever age.

i hope this helps.

I know this sounds weird but after my father died we took his ashes out to see and sprinkled just a few of them around b/c the ocean was the only place he felt calm. it was the only place he didn't feel sick and where he felt closer to God. Then we said our goodbyes and placed the rest of his ashes in the cemetary. i miss him, but everytime my family goes out on the boat we feel a little closer to him b/c we know he's happy.
