Actually no. I was more shocked for the first few minutes. I was a little pissed too, because it meant that I had a whole other issue to deal with, lol. There's not much to be afraid of, it's a totally natural occurrence. Oh yeah, don't waste time being embarrassed about it, if anybody tries to make you feel so, they're just uncomfortable with something that they don't totally understand, and that's their problem.
Keep yourself very clean, and if you get really bad cramps for any reason, try putting a heating pad on your stomach or taking a really hot bad as a natural remedy, the heat relaxes the muscles that are getting all bunched up. Nothing to worry about :-)
Peace,
Sage

It scared me nearly to death and I thought I was dying! You see, I grew up in a time when few parents talked about such things, NOT that that makes it right mind you, it was just the era, we found out the really important things by experience. Just 6 weeks before I'd been admitted to a hospital for surgery and no one told me why. It was because my Hyman was deformed, (I'd already began having regular periods. for at least 2 years!) So all of that was all trapped in my uterus and set up an infection, the Hyman had to be surgically removed, (I was told this after I got married!) 6 weeks later in 5th grade English class I had my first natural period and freaked! The school nurse explained it to me and thank God my teacher for that class was a woman! (This took place in 1974, just a few days after my 12th birthday, great "gift" huh? LOL)

There is nothing to be afraid of. It is a part of life that all women go through (whether we like it or not)!

Yes, and I grew to feel pretty silly about all the hype I put on it. It's really pretty boring.
