A drunk can change. But if he hits you or your children when he is drunk, then you need to leave him. You cannot make him stop drinking. He will have to make that choice himself. You can remind him of what he did when he was drunk, and explain how it made you feel. Hopefully he will make the decision that he needs to quit for his family, if not it is your decision on whether it is worth it to YOU to stay in a situation that makes you so sad.

leave the house and if you have kids, take them with you. If he does this on a regular basis, you need to leave him, if he is willing to get help. This situation can turn into an abusive situation.
